Two bits of news today… First, Apple just announced their World Wide Developers Conference, June 6-10 in San Francisco. It’s expensive ($1595) and I was on the fence last year, then it sold out within a week so I missed out! I bit the bullet and signed up today. Let me know if you think you might attend. Details at http://developer.apple.com/wwdc
Next, we have our agenda for the April and May meetings. Presenters and sponsors for subsequent meetings are asked to contact us!
First, on Tuesday April 5th, Dave Sable of TEKsystems (www.TEKsystems.com) will speak briefly regarding the local development market and answer questions re what finding a development position in 2011 is really like and what role the recruiter plays. Dave is generously sponsoring the meeting… thanks!
Next, our own Steve Maier will be discussing Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing solution that allows you to write mobile (and desktop) apps for any platform and access Microsoft’s servers via the cloud. Learn more about Azure at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/cloud/developer/
For our May 3rd meeting, we have a local firm, ClayWare, that will discuss their efforts bringing the PadBracket to the market! Get one for your iPad at www.PadBracket.com! ClayWare will be sponsoring that meeting and we thank them!
Also on May 3rd, Gary Davis will speak on User Experience and Interface Design, something we need to pay particular attention to on mobile devices!
Meetings are on the first Tuesday each month from 6pm to 8:15pm at New Horizons in Henrietta (50 Methodist Hill, Ste 50, Rochester, NY 14623). Food and drinks are provided at no charge (thanks to the sponsors) and we just ask that you RSVP to info@AppRochester.com so we can have a decent estimate.
See you Tuesday April 5th!
