June 7th mtg – App-cessories!

Our next AppRochester meeting is Tuesday June 7th, 6pm – 8:15pm at New Horizons, 50 Methodist Hill in Henrietta.

Topics/presenters/sponsors are PadBracket / ClayWare Games and vue-stand / Tango Products and I believe they will be raffling off some products!

PadBracket (http://www.PadBracket.com) is an affordable wall mount for an iPad (1 or 2) as well as other tablets. You can slide the tablet in or out and have multiple brackets throughout (kitchen, office, entertainment room, etc.) the house!

The vue-stand (http://www.vue-stand.com) is an affordable ergonomic iPad/tablet stand that you can take with you. It raises the tablet to a better reading angle, reducing neck and wrist strain.

Both are developed by local firms who will discuss the process of inventing, revising, manufacturing and marketing a physical accessory (or “app-cessory!). ClayWare also makes apps, including a video looper (free!) that highlights their accessory. I actually used it at a recent tradeshow, as WiFi wasn’t available so I played a promo video on a loop (the iPad can’t do that on its own!) Skip from Tango is looking for developers whose apps would benefit from his stand, as a potential cross-marketing opportunity (Jen/Zwirlz, for example?!) So this will be useful for app developers to try to work with both firms.

I will not be there, as I’ll be at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, and I’ll plan to present a trip report at the July meeting. Also, please consider joining Apple CIDER (http://www.AppleCIDER.org) and attending the July picnic, where I’ll be donating hundreds of dollars worth of gadgets for a silent auction!

Please RSVP to info@AppRochester.com which goes to Steve Maier as well as myself (Todd). Thanks!
